ABUTILON

Drooping bell-like flowers accent the broad maple-like leaves. Can grow rapidly so control and shape by pinching out branch tips. Partial sun required. Can grow 8' tall. Available in red, yellow cream, rose and coral colors.

ACALYPHA

CEYLON

The multi-hued mahogany leaves are edged in coral-rose creating a great accent to other plants in pots. Can grow 18-24". Plant in shade to part shade.

COPPERLEAF PLANT

A dramatic genus of Euphorbia displaying colorful and furled foliage that gives a major visual impact in outdoor pots. Does best planted in filtered sunlight. Keep pots moist, but well drained.

AGERATUM (artist)

These Ageratums are extremely free flowering. The plants are compact with a uniform mounding habit. Very heat tolerant. Best planted in full to part sun. Does well in planters and beds. Grow 7-9" tall. Available in Blue and Purple varieties.

ALTERANTHERA (detana)

The attractive leaves on this plant make it great in containers and window boxes. This plant is good as an accent. Good in part sun.

ALSTROEMERIA

The colorful flowers have a contrasting stripe that makes it great as a cut flower. Can grow up to 36" tall. Be careful to acclimatize the plant to the area before planting. Best in well drained soils, away from midday sun.

ANAGALLIS

SKYLOVER

A species of "Pimpernel". Intense blue flowers cover this plant. Like warm soil, full to part sun. Excellent in planters or in a rock garden. Grows 12-18" tall.

WILDCAT BLUE

The bright blue flowers are accented by the yellow and red stamens. This plants has a meandering habit, growing 6-12" tall. Does best in sun to part sun.

WILDCAT ORANGE

The tiny orange flowers have a blue center and yellow stamens. This very compact growing plant reaches 6-12" tall. Excellent in planters and containers.

ANGEL FLOWER (Angelonia)

Compact mounds have a multitude of spikes with small flowers resembling Larkspur. Small narrow foliage. Blooms all summer. Prefers rich soil, regular watering. Partial to full sun. Use in beds, planters, and for cut flowers. Pink or Purple Stripe varieties available.

ARCTOTIS (African Daisy)

ASPARAGUS FERN

Greenest in part shade, but will grow in all sun exposures. Plant in well drained soils. Can take some drought, but grow best with ample water. Handles light frosts, but will die in severe cold.

MERERI OR FOXTAIL

Stiffly upright stems can grow 2' or more. Stems have needle like deep green leaves. Plants have a fluffy look.

PLUMOSA

Branching woody vine. Tiny threadlike leaves form feathery dark green sprays that resemble fern fronds. Foliage often used by florists as fillers in bouquets.

SPRENGERI

Bright green needle like leaves. Excellent in hanging baskets or containers for indoors and out. Takes full sun to part shade.

BACOPA (Sutera)

WHITE

Easy to grow. A wonderful filler. Prolific, dainty white blooms accent the green foliage. This plant can be planted in full sun to full shade.

GLACIER BLUE

Light blue flowers cover this easy to grow plant. Grows best in partial shade to full sun. This plant has a spreading form. Grows 3-5".

LILAC KING

Lavender pink flowers are on a low-growing plant. Grows best in partial shade to full sun. Grows 3-5".

BEGONIAS

Grow best in shade to partial shade. Protect from hot afternoon suns. Plants prefer rich, moist soil.

REIGER

Well branched, upright growth. Flowers tend grow close together, sometimes covering the tops of the plants. Very showy.

BRUGMANSIA (Angel's Trumpet)

The enormous and fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers hang from the branches like fluted bells. Given full sun or partial shade and plenty of water, they grow quickly to 36-48". Available in Pink, Yellow, Variegated, and White

CALLA LILLIES

Calla lilies are well-known as long-lasting cut flowers with lots of colors. Their cup-shaped trumpet blooms provide character to the summer bouquet. Callas are great for low-borders and for splashes of color on the patio. In our area, they grow best in a part shade, moist location. Must be dug to over winter.

CANNA

Tropical flowers and large leaves make this a great plant for pots and beds. Most effective in groups. Water heavily in blooming period. Remove flowers and stalk after finished blooming. Tuberous roots. Must be dug in fall and stored over winter in a cool dry place. Available in a variety of flower colors with either green or red foilage.

Adapts well to heat and humidity. Attractive foliage is a dark mahogany color with light variegations all summer long.

CREEPING CHARLIE (Pilea)

Rounded leaves have a scalloped edge. Light shade if outside. Spreading, trailing plant. Good in pots or mixed planters. Available in green and variegated varieties.

CANDLESTICK (Plectranthus)

Green leaves have a white edge. Leaves have a slight fragrance. Branching, tailing habit ideal for mixed baskets and containers. Hardy, easy to grow. Tolerates full sun to full shade.

ROYAL (Plectranthus)

The fuzzy purple foliage is greener on the top of the leaves and a striking purple on the underside. Its habit is mounding and trailing, making a wonderful basket plant or accent in a mixed planter. Best color in full sun, but will grow in shade.

TROY'S GOLD (Plectranthus)

The green leaves have a yellow variegation. Leaves have a slight fragrance. Branching, trailing habit makes this plant ideal for mixed baskets and containers. Tolerates full sun to full shade.

CHENILLE (Acalypha hispida)

Flowers hang in long clusters resembling tassels of crimson chenille. Blooms most heavily in June with scattered bloom throughout the year. Control size by pinching. Best in pots, planters and as a houseplant where allowed to hang.

CLEOME

LINDE ARMSTRONG

This is a very compact variety of Cleome. The pink flowers withstand high temperatures. This plant grows well in low water conditions. Prefers sunny locations.

COLEUS, SUN / SOLAR VARIETIES

These coleus can be planted in part to full sun. They keep their color well in heat and humidity. Easy to grow. Great in the garden and in containers. Come in a variety of colors and textures.

COREOPSIS, ANNUAL

LIMEROCK RUBY

Ruby red flowers bloom from June until frost. Plant grows 18" tall. Heat and drought tolerant. NOT HARDY.

MARDI GRAS

The star-shaped flowers alternate stripes of mahogany and gold that bloom well into the fall. The foliage is dark green, changing to an almost bronze-green late in the fall. Great in sun and dry conditions. Grows 8-10" tall.

tinctoria MAHOGANY MIDGET

This plant has a deep red flower with a yellow eye. Plant will bloom in hot, dry conditions. Plant in full sun. Grows up to 10" high.

Grows best in sun to part shade. Pinch tips for compact growth. Interesting for summer color in small beds and in mixed baskets.

CIGAR PLANT

FALSE HEATHER

DIMORPHOTHECA

Displays of large, showy daisy-like flowers bloom in the spring. These daisies do not thrive in very hot areas. Plants need to be planted in part sun for the best results.

SUMMER MELODY

The double pink daisies are on a nice bushy plant. The flower buds are deep pink and fade to a softer shade as they open. Plant in full to part sun. Grow 14-16" tall.

ALOCASIA

This plant produces shiny green leaves and yellow-green flower spathes in the summer. This upright, branching plant should be grown in a warm sheltered spot, away from the midday sun. May reach 3 feet in the first year.

The 24" rich deep purple leaves are supported on strong black stems making an excellent accent for the part sun gardens. Grows up to 60" tall. Bulbs must be dug and stored for winter.

KILIMANJARO

This upright plant has green leaves with a white margin. The white flowers are borne on bracts. Very heat and drought tolerant. Plant in full to part sun. Can reach 24" tall.

The variegated leaves are topped by florets of white flowers. Great for borders or containers. Best in part sun. Grows 18-24" tall.

EVOLVULUS

Bright blue flowers. Dense and compact plant has small glossy leaves. Grows 6-8" high. Excellent in hanging baskets or in mixed containers.

FELICIA

Daisy like flowers have yellow centers. Will bloom continuously if groomed. Upright bushy plant, but has a tendency to hang when in containers. Can reach 12-18" high.

PURPLE FOUR LEAF CLOVER (trifolium repens)

The rich burgundy/purple leaves are divided into four sections. Small white flowers are held above the foliage. Good in planters and pots. Be cautious because this plant can spread.

GERBERA

Large, daisy flowers come in many colors. Great for arrangements. Blooms any time of year with peaks in early summer and late fall. Lobed leaves can grow to 10" long. Keep soils moist. Feed frequently with fertilizer.

GREEN

A popular accent for pots and baskets. Rather stiff, swordlike leaves. Tolerates sun to shade, wet to dry.

RED OR BAUERRI

The long, broad, sword-shaped leaves are a rich burgundy-red. In summer the crown is highlighted by large clusters of fragrant white flowers. Excellent accent or container item. Full sun.

GRASS, FOUNTAIN (Pennisetum)

Dense, rounded clump. Narrow arching leaves. In summer stems are tipped with fuzzy flower spikes. Use in dry locations or as a focal point in beds and pots. LANTANA

LIPSTICK PLANT

The red to orange flowers emerge from a sheath as if they were being twisted from a lipstick tube. Blooms are sporadic. Grow best in filtered light. This plant is good for baskets because it will hang from the pot.

COMPACT ROYAL JEWELS

Rich blue flowers cover the compact growth. The long lasting blooms flower all season. Does well in sun to part sun.

RED CREEPER (Alternanthera)

Somewhat resembles a coleus. Colorful leaves. Plants grow 6-12" tall, 4-10" wide. Average water required. Keep low and compact by shearing. Good in the garden and mixed baskets.

CHEROKEE SUNSET

The large double and semi-double flowers come in a range of yellow, orange, red, bronze, and mahogany. The strong stems hold this 30" plant upright. Plant in full to part sun. Deer resistant.

HIRTA CORDOBA

The mahogany to bronze, single flowers have a darker center and yellow tips. The upright plant grows 12-15" tall. Plant in full to part sun. Can tolerate dry conditions.

INDIAN SUMMER

Large golden yellow flowers have a black center that bloom through the season. The single and semi-double blooms make excellent cut flowers. Sturdy plants reach 3-31/2' high. Hardy to a zone 6.

SALPIGLOSSIS

Flowers are much like petunias in shape and size, but more unusual in color. Narrow, oblong leaves are somewhat sticky. Plant in sunny location, in rich soil. Do not over water. Pinch to induce branching. Good background plant for border and for cut flowers.

AUTMN 'DESERT BLAZE'

The red flowers are on plants that have green foliage with white margins. Good in hot, dry areas.
